Recovery
The winch is only one part of it. Without a snatch block, a tree protector and shackles you are left with a rope and the hope of finding something to hook it to at the right angle.
TED Pro — 12,000 lb, synthetic rope
The only TRE winch we keep in stock. Data from the product page: 6.5 hp motor, 218:1 gearing, 63.5 × 224 mm drum, 32 kg, IP68 control box, wired and wireless remote in one.
Synthetic rope
9 mm × 24 m. Lighter than steel and safer if it parts — it stores far less energy.
Mounting
114 × 254 mm, the standard bolt pattern. Winch dimensions: 592 × 175 × 244.5 mm.
Warranty
3 years — longer than the compressors, shorter than the lockers.
On synthetic rope, something the manufacturer does not hide: it loses 1.5–2 % of its rating a year, so after a decade 15–20 % is gone and it needs replacing. The manufacturer also advises against synthetic rope on low-mounted winches — the drum brake heats the fibres.
What is in the recovery kit
The ready-made TRE kit holds a 10 t snatch block, an 8,000 kg snatch strap 9 m × 60 mm, a 12,000 kg tree protector 3 m × 75 mm, a 5,000 kg extension strap, two 10 t D-shackles, a winch damper, gloves and a bag.
Snatch strap
Stretches about 20 %. This is what pulls a vehicle out of sand — not the winch rope.
Tree protector
Wide, so it does not cut the bark. You never wrap a steel rope around a trunk.
Winch damper
A piece of heavy material laid over the rope. If the rope parts it drops instead of flying.
